Lung – Afterlife/ Time

19-year-old discovery Lung, from Cardiff has only been producing for a short time but has managed to make some of the most moving sounds this year. Having already featured on Mary Anne Hobbs’ BBCs Radio 1 Experimental show, he’s been slowly building a grassroots following through two local DJ residencies and online support (dubstepforum.com) and will undoubtedly reach a much bigger audience as his first release on Kokeshi takes flight. ‘Afterlife’ features layers of pads and effects with an eerie vocal and gut wrenching sub. Support on Radio 1, and various UK and international web and college radio stations. One for the floor, and one for the ipod. ‘Time’ offers a nod to old school d’n’b/jungle with its breaks and its piano riff, yet Lung still pulls off his signature emo-dub-tastic style with ease, making it sound new and fresh.
