Carl Oesterhelt is part of the morr music bands Ms John Soda and Tied and Tickled Trio ñ luring some of his supergroup cohorts into an extraordinary album of compositions. Referencing Moondog, Monk, Bartok, Berg, Raymond Scott and a host of other genii of modern music, thereís flute, bassclarinet, tuba, clarinet, trumpet, cello, piano, glockenspiel, chinese percussion and strings ñ all underpinned by Rober Klingerís immense contra bass, familiar to anyone who marvelled at the majestic Tied & Ticked Trio in full flight, or loved the Iso68 ìhere/thereî set as much as we did. In fact nearly half of that awesome band is present here, but the feeling is never one of a side-project : minimalistic and also baroque and swimming in leagues of quotations, the music never sounds calculated or constructed, always spontaneous and extremely beautiful. Oesterheld demands the attention of the serious music fan, without ever pretending to be an avantgardist. Carl claim is to compose this music beyond modern classical, electronic, avant-garde, jazz and pop and to search out his own truth in those collisions.
