Madlib – Medicine Show 8

Hip cats and jazz kids, the class is in session with your tutor/guru, Madlib. Number eight in his ‘Medicine Show’ series is dedicated to the masters of ‘Advanced Jazz’, from Miles Davis to Ornette Coleman, Sun Ra and beyond. It’s essentially Madlib in his smokey studio blending sections from his favourite records by each artist, ten in total, flowing between funky jazz, fusion jazz and downright obscure jazz. If sleeves are anything to go on – this features a brilliantly tongue-in-cheek painting by Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze (or is it?) – this is a no brainer.
