Pointless Allstars – No Sleep Till Bedmo

Following the runaway success of their first release � 2007´s ´Bedmo Disco Volume 1´ by Thumbs Aloft � the mysterious Pointless Edits crew return with a second EP of ‘wrong reworks from Bristol, England’. This time, the Bedminster-obsessed posse have enlisted the support of shady Londoners Hardway Brothers and Rico for a three-track ´Pointless Allstars´ assault on the world´s disco dancefloors.



Thumbs Aloft kick things off with ´Can´t Get Away´, a typically Pointless slab of stomping dancefloor disco made from bits of a rubbish Motown Disco record. The Hardway Brothers hail from London and Los Angeles and were named by a Vegas craps dealer after their enthusiasm for long odds dice betting. Veteran players of the acid house/techno scene, the Brothers recent edit collaborations have been stirring interest amongst both blog kids and discerning DJs. Here they weigh in with ´Voodoo Celebration´, a ´Rare´ good funk-rock belter that has ´party banger´ written all over it.



The EP concludes with the brilliant ´No Can Dub´ by sleepy Londoner Rico. Once part of a hip London techno combo, Rico now resides in a cave in Wales, where he counts pebbles and tries to work out where it all went wrong. Pointless Edits is delighted to welcome him back to the fold. He´s turned in a “gert corker” here, dubbing out and extending a much-sampled ´80s blue-eyed soul anthem.
