The Society Feat. Ursula Rucker – Q&A (Part 1 & 2)

£5.99

What do you get if you take elements of jazz from the 60ís like John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis and mix it with modern days house, broken beat and R&B? One answer could be the SOCIETY. The SOCIETY produces an elegant form of dance music that mixes early ’70s jazz fusion and even older jazz signatures with the modern-day sounds of house, broken beat and R&B, occasionally overlaying it with the soulful vocal musings of artists from the red-hot Philly scene and beyond. SOCIETYs first commercial release was the remix to Philadelphia wordsmith Ursula Rucker’s Supa Sister (2001), the title track to her debut album. Early summer 2004 SOCIETY released their 2nd 12î, now on the London based label Freestyle Records governed by Jazzcafe booker and DJ Adrian Gibson. It contained the two tracks îBlack Crowî feat. Storm and îDeep in your heartî feat. Liv Skotte. Both tracks immidiately got on a 3 months rotation on Patrick Forges late night BBC radio show and the stock was sold out immidiately after. Now comes the 3rd 12î before the album release in april. Another collaboration with the spoken word queen Ursula Rucker.
