Nik Weston presents japanese Jazz with Attitude – Quiet Fire / Heat
After the success of MUKAT 12 (Grant Green/Orquesta De La Luz) which sold out over 800 copies in 3 days with the distributor, we barely catch our breath before Mukatsuku unleashes what can only be described as a Jazz Monster !!!!
We get an explosive double header with Jazz trio J.A.M on the A side & some jazzual dance floor broken beats on the flipside from Jazztronik.
J.A.M are a three piece who take their name from the three members, Josei (piano/keys),Akita Goldman(bass) & Midorin(drums)who are all members of the Japanese band SOIL & ´PIMP´ SESSIONS. Their rendition of ´Quiet Fire´ takes influence from Roy Haines cover version but makes the track very much their own for an explosive & funked up jazz dancer from the start with those enormous keys that drive the track until the epic finish.
On the flipside, Jazztronik (the project of Ryota Nozaki)gets joined by SHACHO (also from SOIL & ´PIMP´ SESSIONS) for a jazz tinged broken beats workout with distinctive piano hooks that keep the momentum at a furious speed throughout.
