Both sides of this single are amazing — real jazz played by a hip little quintet, but done so in the highly rhythmic style of the burgeoning club jazz underground that’s been sneaking out on records by artists like Sleepwalker, Hipnosis, and Honeymuch.

“Trading Eights” snaps like a classic bit of Blue Note soul jazz — with great tenor and trumpet work, and skipping piano lines that really make the whole thing groove! “Blueprint” is a soaring little groover written by tenorist Eero Koivistoinen — again with a classic style, but some really great rhythms that hook the tune up nicely for the dancefloor!
