Faction – The End Of Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv is a strange place to be making music. Surrounded, on the one hand, by the rich traditions of the middle east and its African heritage and, on the other, absorbing the huge cultural significance of the Ashkenazi communities from the Diaspora all over Eastern europe, one faces a huge musical melting pot before even paying any attention to the other-wordly mayhem of political conflict, complex bloodlines and the unbearable heat that takes over for a good 9 months a year. Citing the work of Brian eno, biosphere , 4AD, boards of Canada , Autechre, ulirch schnuass, my bloody valentine, Anthony “shake” shakir, komet and Alva Noto as being of major influence, Faction somehow try to trace the musical path between the heavy digital sounds of labels like raster-noton and the warm blurry feel of 4AD.
