Laidbook – The Transit Issue 02
£12.99
This month sees the release of the second of the monthly laidbook releases on the origami productions label. once again issued with a plain white sleeve, the package features a cd with seven new tunes and ten art postcards. subtitled the transit issue, the songs on this release do indeed conjure up images of warm days on distant shores, with every track a winner. the album opens with a version of the oft-covered milton nascimento classic ponta de areia, a great sunny tune which sets the tone for the rest of the album. the only other vocal track present is the lead track i’m walking (video clip below), which is a pleasant enough and catchy tune, though perhaps not the strongest tune on the album. personally, the brazilian flavour of a piece of the sun and the fusion sounds of earth diving man are the real stand out tracks for this issue, though the whole thing is solid throughout. with more contemporary graphic design and images offered with the art cards from the origami stable, this makes the whole package a real bargain at just a thousand yen. they’re only two issues in, but this series is shaping up to be something pretty special and worth collecting.
