Speedometer – Work it Out/ City Strut

Legendary of course within the funk collectors circle, The Speedometers have been steadily building momentum with their heavy touring in clubs all over Europe, Japan and the U.S, playing with the likes of Sharon Jones, Lee Fields, Sir Joe Quarterman and Eddie Bo. Starting out as a funk quartet in 1997 as a tribute to The Meters, Speedometers have worked with The James Taylor Quartet and expanding their line-up to include a percussionist and horn section. In 1999, their Digging Deep E.P attracted the attention from the legendary U.S funk label Desco Records, who later released their afro-beat track ëSoul Safarií which secured them the centre stage spot at the London Jazz CafÈ along side James Brown’s soul diva Marva Whitney.
